They're just homeless people, not homicidal maniacs. You've got at least three levels of law enforcement operating in there. Yes, I know and appreciate that. I didn't feel unsafe as such; bad explanation it was safety on the actual train which concerned me.
I just felt very uncomfortable and honestly very saddened. Same at NH Union Station. I've looked at some Metro North interior photos and my bag will def fit on the overhead racks. It's getting it up there which will be the problem Is there space to stand at the end of the carriages with a bag? Is standing even allowed on Metro North trains? Standing will definitely not be necessary at that hour. And I would be very surprised if you even had to bother putting your bag up.
There will be space on the floor next to your feet. Your biggest worry will be falling asleep and forgetting to get off. Once my dad did this on NJ Transit and ended up in Sunnyside Yard in Queens where the trains are stored during the day before their return trip!
Thanks for the reassurance, Julie I think that I may well risk Metro North. I quite fancy taking alternatives when they exist, and Metro North stops at another NH station which is more convenient for me than Union. We appreciate the support we received from Senator Schumer and Governor Cuomo in reaching this agreement.

I'm hoping someone can tell me the difference between the Metro North and the Amtrak. I noticed the Amtrak has a business class. Is it worth paying the extra? Any advise would be most appreciative.
